Content Creation in the early 2000s
There will be another plug or self-indulging post about a media outlet I created as a child. The channel might look different now since I'm using the already accumulated subscribers to use the YouTube live-streaming features. While there are some older videos that tell multi-point stories. The first point is with a personal group of friends I'm connected to who play video games quite frequently. The second bullet is that I also participated in an Xbox 360 military simulation group where I'd recorded for them. Thirdly, I tried my hand at being a competitive Halo Reach player.
To round out the first bullet point. I have a friend group where we call ourselves the A-team. But now we have migrated to the virtual chatrooms of Discord, where we are called the salty spitoon. These people are still some of my closest friends. Even if we have never met in person, I know they are the most connected people. These have helped mold my passion for the Halo franchise since we would play hours of video games (Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo Wars). They are a highlight of my developmental years for sure.
Secondly, I was going through a rebellious phase in my life and thought sharing my story was the best way to become understood. That is where the Hauppauge capture card came into most use. I became friends with a few people I no longer connected with. We all need structure in our lives, so we used action-packed and cinematic (Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 4) video games as the backdrop and structure we middle schoolers craved. I was role-playing as an embedded cameraman within a group of marines or other special forces units represented within the video games. Ironically, as a twenty-sixth-year-old writing a reflection on those periods of my life. I was contributing to a tribute to all those service members. I also want to make friends that will stay with me forever. Minutely similar to the people that form the special operations or the military units we roleplayed or represented. That must have made bonds stronger than granite.
Thirdly, before the custom games and E-sports. I tried to play a game mode within the Halo Reach video game called Ranked. Which compares your kill-to-death and win-to-loss ratio to other players and matches you up against suitable players of the same stats. While some of the matches went well, I made a friend called Godly-Wins, where we were paired up to compete. We dominated match after match when I had blisters from playing video games so much; now it is muscle memory of how to conquer a Halo multiplayer match. That scorching competition formed me today, as I will win no matter what. Since Godly wins are always carried with me, that funny British character.
Thanks for taking the time to read through my memory lane. Here is a link to my account, where all those memories are archived.
